SPYN
A tangible navigation system designed to guide cyclists intuitively without screens or sound.

problem
Urban cyclists juggle navigation and traffic awareness at the same time. Screens distract and reduce visibility, while audio cues mask environmental sounds. A hands-free, in-view solution is needed for safer guidance.
solution
Spyn replaces traditional screens and audio prompts with a subtle light-based communication system, offering cyclists a safer, more intuitive way to navigate while staying fully aware of their surroundings.

Spyn is a lightweight, handlebar-mounted navigation system featuring dual LED strips on either side of the stem.
It is powered by an Arduino-based MCU, a rechargeable battery, and a Bluetooth (HC-05) module for wireless communication. Each strip contains ultra-bright, multi-color LEDs with a diffuser for clear visibility in all weather conditions.
Navigation data from Google Maps is processed by a companion app and transmitted via Bluetooth to deliver real-time guidance. The design is compact, weather-resistant, and compatible with standard handlebars.
